This course teaches you to read and understand basic sentences of Sanskrit through grammar rules. The course is suitable for students who are beginning to learn the Sanskrit language.



To master any language, the study of its grammar is considered to be very important. Rather we can say, grammar acts as the backbone of any language. Similarly, if you study and master the grammar of Sanskrit, you can easily read any Sanskrit text and Shlokas. So here in all these tutorials, an attempt is made to explain all basic grammar rules of Sanskrit. This will surely help you to read, understand and also write in Sanskrit easily.

This course is the first part of Sanskrit Grammar trilogy that consists of - Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses. Here, you can learn topics such as Introduction to Sanskrit Grammar, Sandhi, Kaaraka, Verbs (Present and Past tense), Indeclinables, Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Prefixes and a lot more. This course is effective for studying class 8 Sanskrit Grammar of SSC board as it has been designed keeping in mind all the topics of class 8 Sanskrit Grammar. This could turn out to be an excellent entry point to start learning Sanskrit!

Sanhita Joshi is a Gold medalist and Mumbai University Topper at Masters and Bachelors Examination of Sanskrit. Her specialisation is in Sanskrit Grammar. Currently Sanhita is Visiting Faculty at Sanskrit Department of Mumbai University. She is pursuing her PhD at Deccan College, Pune in the field of Paninian grammar. She has teaching experience of almost five years. She wants to contribute for the spread and growth of this ancient yet extremely scientific language and Open Pathshala is one way for her to do so!

Dear Sir/Madam, We used to learn sanskrit in English in schools, ie. Sanskrit in English...so we never understood this well, here the clarity of the subject is very different and hence I recommend all those interested in learning this beautiful language the openpathshala.com

Just finished all the 21Topics of the Basic course. This is an Excellent Course  ! Every topic nicely explained with examples.
I had no knowledge of Sanskrit  Grammar what so ever,prior to this course.But this course has helped me understand the basics.
